Sustainability at Mahua Kothi
At every &Beyond lodge we seek out small (and sometimes not so small) but meaningful ways of putting our values into action every day. Each lodge supports the conservation of wildlife and contributes to its neighbouring communities in one way or another. In addition, we seek to limit our impact in terms of fossil fuels, the use of renewable energy, water and waste management, and recycling.

Mahua Kothi Conservation Lessons are a Hit!
Mahua Kothi’s Conservation Lesson programme got off to a great start. Accompanied by their teachers, 15 children from the local community arrived at the Lodge ready and willing to learn about their surrounding wilderness. The group ventured into Bandhavgarh National Park in 3 safari vehicles accompanied by expert CC Africa trained naturalists (Pradeep, Kartikeya and Karan). The children learned why the jungle is so important, and they had some great sightings of chital, wild boar, sambar, peafowl, monkeys and a tiger. After their exciting game drive, the children returned to the Lodge for tea, coffee, biscuits and pakodas. Well done to the Mahua Kothi team!
Mahua Kothi Makes School Fun!
Recent guests visiting Mahua Kothi have helped to make a difference in the lives of over 147 children at the Government Middle School in Ranchha. One group of guests purchased 30 stationery kits from the Safari Shop and visited the school to distribute them to the children. So touched by the whole process, one of the guests present purchased another 50 kits to be distributed! The story keeps spreading and since then a further 67 kits have been purchased by other Mahua Kothi guests. The children are delighted, and the teachers have reported that their students are now excited to come to school every day to write and sketch with their brand new pens, pencils and crayons.
