Nestled among glistening conifers, Amankora Paro contrasts rustic charm and contemporary design, featuring rammed-earth walls and wood-panelled interiors. A lime-washed stone pavilion houses the living and dining areas, library boutique and outdoor terrace. Floor to ceiling windows in the living area reveal dramatic views of the 17th century ruins of Drukyel Dzong and snowy mountain peaks. Six dwellings each house four suites, which offer king-sized beds, traditional wood-burning stoves and large, terrazzo-clad baths.
The magnificent spa, which looks out onto blue pine forests, boasts a sauna, steam room, five treatment rooms and a glass-walled yoga suite.
