At Diphlu River Lodge air conditioned cottage built on stilts offer exceptional views over Diphlu River and Kaziranga National Park. With only the river separating them from the park, the spacious cottages are beautifully designed, making full use of local materials and artefacts. Blending in with the natural surroundings, the wide glass doors of the cottages open onto thatched verandas overlooking the river, while at the back a sun deck with loungers looks out onto farmland. Set high above the river, a machan, or jungle platform, features beautiful guest sitting and dining areas, as well as a vast thatched veranda where can can sink into comfortable sofas or indulge in some gentle birdwatching. Bamboo walkways criss-cross a paddy field, linking the various guest areas.
Further down the bank, a jetty is the starting point for river trips in dugout canoes. The shady river banks are ideal for barbecues and campfires, while an open area hosts displays of tribal dancing. Daily jeep and elephant safaris explore Kaziranga National Park in the company of resident naturalists, while village visits, river walks and tours through the tea gardens are also available.
